"Thailand Kulinarik Projekt" to Promote Thai Culinary Culture in St. Pölten

On 12 June 2025, Ms. Pornapas Torut, Counsellor of the Royal Thai Embassy in Vienna, attended on behalf of the Ambassador the “Thailand Kulinarik Projekt,” organized by the Österreich- Thailändische Gesellschaft (ÖTG) (Austrian - Thai Society) in collaboration with NÖ Musikmittelschule St. Pölten at the Domplatz of St. Polten. The event was supported by the city of St. Pölten and the Sparkasse Bank.

The participating Grade 9 students of the music middle school of St. Põlten had an opportunity to learn about Thailand’s culture and Thai cuisine through hands-on cooking sessions guided by Mrs. Siriwan Siridej, Thai culinary expert. The students presented and sold their Thai dishes cooked by themselves at the weekly market on Domplatz, using many local ingredients. The event also featured displays of the students' projects reflecting their cultural learning about Thailand. The revenue from the sale went to support the students' further excursions and activities.

The project was highly successful in promoting Thai culinary identity and raising awareness among the younger generation. It received warm interest and positive engagement from the local public.
