On June 15th, Ambassador Sriswasdi visited Burgenland Region and had a productive meeting with Ms. Verena Dunst, President of the State Parliament, during which both sides exchanged views on the COVID-19 situation in Thailand and Austria, as well as the role of the Parliament in the crisis. Other topics of discussions include renewable energy, BCG economy, and further cooperation in agricultural sector, especially organic and tropical vegetables.
Ambassador Sriswasdi also met with Mr. Martin Hovarth, Vice-President of Burgenland Chamber of Commerce, to further promote investment and strengthen economic cooperation between Thailand and Austria, in particular with regards to agricultural sector, renewable energy and start-up businesses. Ambassador Sriswasdi informed WKO about Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), Special Economic Zones (SEZ) and the importance of BCG economic model. They also exchanged views on impacts of the COVID-19 on business and tourism, as well as relevant government supporting schemes.
The visit to Burgenland is part of the Ambassador's programme to strengthen cooperation with local governments, parliaments and private sectors in different regions. She also visited Carinthia region in March and plans to visit Vorarlberg region next month.
