The Commemorative Event of the 58th Anniversary of ASEAN Day
On the occasion of the 58th Anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), H.E. Ms. Pattarat Hongtong, Ambassador of Thailand, attended the Commemorative Event of the ASEAN Day co-organized by the Embassies and Permanent Missions of ASEAN countries in the name of ASEAN Vienna Committee (AVC) on 20 August 2025 at the Rotunda, Vienna International Centre. There were many Ambassadors, senior representatives from the Government of Austria as well as executives of international organizations with over 300 participants attending the event.
At the opening ceremony, H.E. Mr. Min Thein, Ambassador of Myanmar to Austria, in his capacity as Chair of the AVC, and H.E. Mr. Ikram bin Mohd Ibrahim, Ambassador of Malaysia to Austria, in Malaysia’s capacity as Chair of ASEAN in 2025, delivered remarks alongside representatives from the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria and Vienna-based United Nations (UN) agencies, including the United Nations at Vienna (UNOV), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO). All sides highlighted progress of cooperations and reiterated determination to strengthen relations with each other.
During the event, the AVC members, namely Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam, presented a cultural fashion show featuring national costumes. Traditional foods of every country were also served to the guests. The activities promoted rich cultural heritage of ASEAN and enhanced good understanding between ASEAN and the international community.
