Reception on the Occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand and Thailand’s Father’s Day 5 December 2025

On December 2, 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Vienna hosted a reception at the Vienna Marriott Hotel to commemorate the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand and Thailand’s Father’s Day 5 December 2025.

The event received participation of approximately 400 guests, including diplomatic corps, distinguished guests from Austria, Slovakia, and Slovenia, as well as members of the Thai community and their families.

Attendees viewed a video clip tributed to Her Majesty the late Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, followed by a moment of silence in remembrance of Her Majesty The Queen Mother. On this occasion, H.E. Ms. Pattarat Hontong, Ambassador of Thailand to Austria, delivered her remarks, highlighting the importance of applying the wisdom and principles of the late King Rama IX, Her Majesty the late Queen Mother, and His Majesty King Rama X to strengthen the nation. The Ambassador also praised the close and cordial relations between Thailand and Austria which has flourished in all dimensions, including political, economic, and social as well as in multilateral forums.

H.E. Mr. Maximilian Hennig, Chief of Protocol of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, attended as the Guest of Honour. He recalled the State Visit of Her Majesty the late Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother to Austria in 1964, noting that her great popularity during the said visit significantly increased Thailand's recognition and popularity among the Austrian public. He also expressed sincere admiration on the close and enduring bilateral and multilateral friendship between Austria and Thailand, particularly the strong economic cooperation.

The official part of reception concluded with the Ambassador inviting guests to toast for the good health of His Majesty The King and the Federal President of Austria, as well as to the prosperity of the peoples of both countries.
