Thailand and Finland Co-host the 2026 OSCE Asian Conference in Bangkok

Thailand, together with Finland, co-host the 2026 OSCE Asian Conference in Bangkok on 28–29 May 2026, with support from Secretariat of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). The conference serves as a platform for discussions and exchanges on strengthening cooperation toaddress increasingly complex transnational threats in the digital era. The panelists and participants exchanged perspectives and shared best practices on combating digital threats, particularly online scams and cyber-enabled crimes.

Approximately 150 participants attended the conference, from 36 countries representing participating States and Partners for Co-operation of the OSCE. This conference was the first one held outside of Europe in seven years.

In his opening remarks, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, stated that digital crimes have evolved into sophisticated cross-border threats affecting countries worldwide. He also reaffirmed Thailand’s role as a bridge for cooperation between ASEAN and the OSCE in advancing comprehensive securitycooperation. The opening remarks were jointly delivered by H.E. Ms. Outi Holopainen, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland. A special keynote address was also given by H.E. Mr. Feridun H. Sinirlioğlu, Secretary General of the OSCE.

Prior to the conference, participants had the opportunity to visit the Anti Cyber Scam Center (ACSC) of the Royal Thai Police to learn of Thailand’s operational approaches and ongoing efforts to combat digital threats and online scams.

OSCE is the world’s largest regional security organization. The participating States include all European countries, Central Asia as well as three non-European countries: the United States of America, Canada, and Mongolia. In addition, the OSCE cooperates with countries outside the region called “Partners for Co-operation,” consisting of six Mediterranean and five Asian countries.
